Aug. 6, 2008 - A printing supplies firm in Maine has pioneered a new soy-based toner powder for laser printers.

PRC Technologies reports that it is the first company to market with a soy toner for use in laser printers, the type of printer most commonly used in office settings. (Soy ink for other applications has been available for some time.)

The new toner cartridges, to be sold as part of PRC's SoyPrint line, will be comparably priced to major-label brands, PRC says.
